Emerald Isle, NC - 2009

Michael and I joined Kenneth's extended family for the annual Emerald Isle Beach trip from June 28-July 5. This was Michael's second visit to the beach (earlier in the summer, we took him to Daytona for a day), and he DOES NOT like the ocean. Our guess is that he does not like the moving water. It will grow on him one of these years, right? Anyway, Kenneth flew in on Wednesday and stayed the remainder of the week. It was definitely different having a baby there, but there were so many helping hands that I was still able to read 4 books! It was a wonderful week, and we look forward to next year!
Ready to hit the beach with Aunt Blair on Monday!
Observing the beach with cousin Elizabeth...
Just give the boy a shovel, and he'll enjoy the beach!
He enjoyed walking in the sand...
And getting a little sandy in the sand...
This was Michael's serious face that he had on anytime anyone took him near the water...
Can you see how he's trying to stack his feet so that they both aren't touching the water?
Happy to be out of the water!
The three generations of Hamburg men (or boys, right Pam?)...
Sitting with Burger close to the water...

There is that serious face again!
Just ignore Kenneth in this one! :o)
Michael enjoying his first hush puppy from T&W's...
Howdy Cowboy!
Enjoying playing with the shovel until...
...the water comes!
Pretty shells...
I think it looks like Michael is trying to play the bongos in this picture...

Michael's thoughts, "Who needs sand? It's way more fun to put the shovel in the bucket, take it out, put it back in, and take it out again!"
Check out his super cool beach shirt...he'll be able to wear this to daycare on casual Friday once he starts! :o)
Serious... Mischievous...
July 4th was our last full day...
Michael was very excited to celebrate!
This little romper said "My favorite colors" underneath the flag...so cute!
Thanks Pammy, Burger, and Aunt Blair for my July 4th outfit! Check out his four teeth! (now he has six, and he's working on two more)

Hanging around with Burger...
Can you tell which one is the father and which one is the son in this photo?
Our first annual 4th of July family photo shoot...gotta love the $5.00 Old Navy t-shirts!

I think this one is my favorite...

On our way back to Apopka, we stopped to see Melissa and Trevor who were at her parents' beach place in Palm Coast, FL. We always enjoy seeing these two even if it is only for an hour!
