My Boy

It seems as though Sarah has been the star of the blog lately, so I wanted to dedicate a post to my sweet, silly, big boy.

Michael has adjusted pretty well to life with Sarah.  When she was about 6 weeks, he started to show some signs of jealousy, but he never took it out on her.  He has loved his baby sister since day one.  He decided to take it out on Mommy and Daddy.  It was nothing too serious, just the usual whining with some defiance thrown in here and there.  I think he's finally coming around and getting to a new normal, though.  This last week has finally been relatively calm, so that's been nice.  Hopefully, we've each found our new niches as a family of four!

Michael is so funny these days.  He says something every day that cracks us up.  I wish I'd written more of them down, but here are a few:

Dinner time seemed to be the place when he would melt down the quickest in the past couple of months.  We we're hosting our first family dinner since Sarah was born, and Michael decided he didn't want to finish his food.  We told him no dessert, no playing, etc. if he didn't eat.  This went on for a while, until he finally got a little scowl on his face and says, "I'm tired of this conversation!"  Everyone had to stifle laughter!  Kenneth and I were trying to think if we'd ever said that to him, and I just figured we had since dinners had been rather dramatic at that moment.  My thought was that after two weeks of trying to get him to eat his dinner, I might had said something about being tired of having the conversation.  Well, last weekend, we were watching an episode of Phineas and Ferb that we'd all seen multiple times, and two of the characters said, "I'm tired of this conversation!"  Sooo...mystery solved!

When he's thirsty, he says, "I'm drinky!"

He likes to use the word "actually" which always makes me grin.

When he talks to Sarah, he changes his voice...he makes it softer and higher pitched.  It's so cute.  I can hear him right now saying, "Hi Baby Sarah!"

One of his recent prayers: "Dear Lord, Thank you for Mommy and Daddy, and thank you for taking me to Noah's house today. Amen"

He hasn't done this in a while, but there were a couple of weeks when we'd tell him to do something, and he would say it right back to us like this...
Me: Michael, you need to eat three more bites of your beans.
Michael: YOU need to eat three more bites of your beans.
It made us laugh, but Kenneth and I had to discourage it and make sure we weren't saying it to each other.

The night before Sarah was born...my buddy and me!

This truck actually holds of his cars in the sides, but he likes to move them around the house on top of the truck instead of in the truck...

Michael's best friend from church, Noah.
Noah is moving the first weekend in June.  We haven't told Michael yet because he has such a hard time understanding time.  It's going to be a while and take a lot of explaining and re-explaining why we aren't going to Noah's house for small group or why Noah isn't at church Sunday morning.  :(

This was one day that Michael was home with Sarah and me when he was sick.  He was coloring with markers, and then turned around to me and said, "Look at my mustache!"

My sweet boy...wouldn't smile for the picture, but he did let his daddy take one!

There's a smile!

This was at the beginning of April.  We'd been to the doctor and then to Publix to fill a prescription.  He laid down with his balloon tied to his wrist when we got home while I made his lunch.  When I came in to check on him, he was out cold.  Bless his heart.

I covered him with one of Sarah's blankets and Murphy decided to join him...

Big boy wanted a headband like Mommy and Sarah wear...

Rock. Star.

He still fits in the Bumbo!

Last week, he had a really snotty, gunky, nasty nose.  You can tell if you look closely.  Did you know putting a band aid across the bridge of your nose makes the inside feel all better?

On the weekends, he likes to nap on Sarah's floor.  Notice he has her baby doll...

My little photographer...trying to get the perfect angle!

While his actions can be a bit aggravating at times, I wouldn't change a thing about this little guy.  He is, hands down, my favorite 3 year old.  We are so blessed to be his parents!
