From our family to yours, we wish you the Happiest of New Year's! We are looking forward to what this year is going to bring to our family. We hope this year will bring a job for Kenneth, a buyer for our townhouse in Birmingham, and a new home here in Florida...surely that can happen in the next 12 months, right?
We also hope you were able to enjoy the first day of 2010! We planned on having a pretty lazy day until Michael woke up with a 102.2 fever, so we spent two hours of the afternoon at the After Hours Pediatric Clinic. I suspected RSV since Max was diagnosed with it on Tuesday. Kenneth suspected an ear infection. The doctor thought maybe Strep. Guess who was right? Mommy dearest!! RSV is a respiratory virus that is highly contagious among children, so there isn't much we can do besides giving him Motrin and Tylenol to try to keep his fever down. Michael definitely doesn't have as bad a case as Max. Poor Max couldn't keep anything down, and his little chest was really congested. Michael's chest was clear, and he hasn't had any problems keeping down whatever his food or fluids. After the doctor told us he'd tested positive for RSV, Kenneth turned to me and goes, "Hey! That's the first time I've been wrong all year!" I thought that was funny...he didn't make it too far into the new year before admittedly being wrong!
At the office, his fever was up to 103, and he was so pitiful. He HATES going to the doctor. It doesn't matter if they are checking his chest or giving him shots - he screams bloody murder. When the doctor came in to check on him, she asked me to put him on the table, and when I started to move, he started to scream. She then goes, "Ohhh. He's the one I heard earlier. How about you hold him, and I'll do what I need to do with him in your lap." He still screamed but it made me feel a little better.
It actually wasn't a bad two hours. Michael was so pitiful that he just cuddled, and Kenneth and I got to watch Up, which was one of the Pixar movies from last year. We didn't get to finish it, but we enjoyed what we saw.
Here he is right before we were finally able to leave...bless his heart.
And on a side note, this was too funny not to put on here. As we were driving out of the neighborhood on our way to the doctor's office, I saw a really cool hawk sitting on the top of a for sale sign. I made Kenneth turn around because I wanted him to see it. I got out the camera, opened the window, and as I was getting it ready to snap a photo, Kenneth goes, "He's looking right at you!" But I couldn't get it focused in time. So I decided to hoot like an owl to try to get it to look at me....and it immediately flew away.
Can you see it making it's escape from the crazy owl lady in the van?
