Weekend at the Beach

***DISCLAIMER: THERE ARE FAR TOO MANY PICTURES IN THIS POST. YOU'RE WELCOME.

We spent the weekend before Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at Ponce Inlet with my parents. It was so great to be at the beach in January! We can't wait for the Summer!

We got in just in time on Friday for dinner. We went to Inlet Harbor and ate outside on the deck. There was live music, and we all enjoyed watching some of the locals dance! (I didn't take any pictures that night...can you believe it?!)

Saturday, we were quite lazy in the morning, and we finally headed out to a late brunch around 11:00. We went to The Cracked Egg Diner, and it was really yummy and cheap. Kenneth and I decided it would become a place we would frequent when we're there. The owners are from Knoxville, and we started talking to one of them before we left. My dad asked him if he was a Lane Kiffin fan, and he said, "Not anymore." We all started laughing, and Michael joined in - it was really funny! He leaned over and gave a big belly laugh. (I didn't take any pictures there either...I guess I was a little off my game. Don't worry - I completely made up for it, and you're about to get overloaded with pictures.)

After Michael's nap, we went for a stroll on the beach. It was really windy, but I'm not going to complain since we got to stroll on the beach in January!
Michael loved walking in the sand and watching the birds...

I needed to document Murphy's first time on the beach...it will probably be his last time at this beach since a nice girl and her mom filled us in on the fact that dogs aren't allowed on the beach at Ponce Inlet. Bummer...
He was so happy running in the sand...
The rocks and shells were a little distraction from walking...

Saturday night, we went to Chart House for drinks and appetizers because they have a REALLY great happy hour special. They may not offer the special anymore since we totally took advantage of it! We ordered eight out of the nine appetizer options, and they were so good! We will definitely go again as long as they have the special...it's way too expensive otherwise!
Michael helped us choose our appetizers...
The happy hour special is only available in the lounge, and the only tables in the lounge are bar height. So, Michael sat a little lower than us, but it worked out just fine.
This is how we fed Michael. If the restaurant hadn't been so nice, I would have just put his food on the seat of the chair. The bowl worked though. Michael loves to climb into this chair...
It's his throne!
Michael will probably kill me for taking pictures like this one day.
He loves to wear everyone's shoes....men's and women's. Sunday morning, before we went to the pool/beach, he found Gammi's new peacock blue Crocs. It's a good look, don't you think?
We headed to the heated pool to go for a dip on Sunday morning before taking a walk on the beach. The pool still felt a little chilly to me, but Kenneth took Michael in for a few minutes.
This was before they got in the water...my little Gator.
Michael was still very skeptical of the water like he was over the summer.
He actually walked in it a little during this walk before he realized that it was moving water. Then he didn't like it anymore again.

Watching the birds...

Uncle Rod, Aunt Carolyn, Uncle Joe, Mimi, and Mimi's new man, James, came over on Sunday to celebrate Mom's birthday (which was January 13th).
This photo is to formally introduce to all of you Mimi's new main squeeze, James. She met him at church, and she's acting like she is 15 years old again!
Aunt Carolyn, Mimi, and James played a game of Scrabble. James had never played before, and he isn't a good speller. I think it was a rather long game for Carolyn.
Michael didn't get an afternoon nap since there were so many people there. He didn't want to miss out on the party. Gammi took him out the back, and they ran around in the grass for probably 45 minutes. It was REALLY WINDY, and Michael was SO HAPPY...

We left pretty soon after Michael and Gammi came back inside. I think Michael was out within maybe 10 minutes. He had Scout (it's a stuffed animal that sings and talks), his lovey, and his juice. Life is good!
We can't wait for more weekends and hopefully weeks once school's out for Summer!
